Android: Google recently quietly announced it would be removing QuickOffice, the suite of office apps it purchased, from the Play Store. To compensate for that, the company's adding many of QuickOffice's features to the native Android Docs and Sheets apps.
During Google I/O, the company added the ability to natively edit .docx files on the web. One of QuickOffice's most standout features was the ability to do this on Android. Now, Google's built Microsoft Office editing directly into Docs. Similarly, you can now edit Excel spreadsheets in the Sheets app.
The new apps also brings a host of new features and changes. You can now create Microsoft Office files, spell check has been improved, you can now choose to save or open files from local storage, and many of the formatting and editing interfaces have been redesigned.
The Sheets app similarly has a ton of new features. Now you can access Excel formulas when editing Office docs, functions now autocomplete as you type them, you can insert charts, interface improvements and more. The apps appear to be rolling out on the Play Store, but Android Police has APKs for both apps that you can download now at the source link below.
